In deze bijdrage geeft de auteur nieuwe richting aan het gehechtheidsonderzoek door het stellen van ‘ongemakkelijke’ vragen over fundamentele, maar vaak bekritiseerde claims van de gehechtheidstheorie. Het doel is deuren te openen voor discussie, innovatief empirisch en theoretisch werk te inspireren en aandacht te vragen voor culturele processen in de vorming van gehechtheidsrelaties.

Abstract

In this contribution, the author directs future research on attachment theory with some ‘uncomfortable’ questions about fundamental yet often criticized claims of attachment theory. The goal is to open up new avenues for discussion, to inspire innovative empirical and theoretical work and to draw attention to cultural processes in the formation of caregiver-child attachment bonds.
